(2c) Development of catalyst for functionalization of alkane (especially for dehydrogenation)
(2c-1) Among our PBP-Ir complexes shon in the research 2a, iPr-substituted PBP-Ir complexes could catalyze transfer dehydrogenation of alkanes. Although the catalytic activity of the PBP-Ir complexes is not high enough to compete the present best catalyst system, this is the first application of boryl complex as a catalyst for dehydrogenation of alkanes. The long-tethered version of PBP-Ir complexes were also synthesized. These derivatives showed higher catalytic activity for transfer dehydrogenation of alkanes. Other pincer complexes having N or Al atoms as the central coordinating atom are also developed.
